Our clinic was founded on a Patient Bill of Rights unheard of in the health care industry. As a patient of Kara Diersing Clapp, PhD, NP-c Family Nurse Practitioner, you finally have the health care rights you deserve.
- The Right to Privacy Unlike many other clinics, your medical records belong to you. You decide who can and cannot see your medical records. Exception: insured patients must allow their insurance plan access to the medical record.
- The Right to Your Time We take your time as seriously as we do ours. Scheduled patients will not have to wait an hour in the waiting room only to wait another 20 minutes in the exam room.
The Right to be Treated Like a Person We make a point of getting to know each patient in the practice. You will never be a chart number. The clinic staff will get to know you as well as you know yourself. We limit our day to a reasonable number of patients per provider to avoid overscheduling.
- The Right to Have More than One Illness We recognize that sometimes several things go wrong at once. As a cash-pay uninsured patient, you have the right to be seen for all of the issues you need in a single visit. Insured patients may only address 1-2 issues per visit.*
- The Right to Convenience Our clinic schedule is available online. You can schedule your own appointment any time 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you wake up feeling sick at 2:30 AM, you can quickly grab the next available appointment. There is no need to wait until the clinic opens only to be told that you cannot be seen until the Thursday after next.
- The Right to a House Call Kara Diersing Clapp, PhD, NP-c makes house calls, office calls, hotel calls, and resort calls. If you cannot come to our clinic, we will come to any cash-paying patient. Mothers with sick kids don't have to pack them in the car, and busy business people don't need to leave the office. Insured patients must schedule an office visit, as insurance plans do not cover house calls.
- The Right to Value As a cash-pay patient, there are no hidden fees or charges. You pay for the time you requested.** In some cases, a diagnosis or treatment may require outside services. We have worked hard to identify the outside resources that provide the best value. Insured patients are required to use their in-network resources for the best value.
- The Right to Knowledge You have the right to have your health situation and treatment explained to you so that you understand how you can get healthy again and remain healthy.
* Because appointments are the time that you schedule, be sure to schedule more time for more ailments. On average, a single issue requires 15 minutes to diagnose and develop a treatment plan. Some issues are simple, some are more complex. If in doubt, schedule a little extra time. The additional personal care you receive will be well worth while. Insured patients may address only 1 issue per 15 minutes of appointment time as insurance fee schedules do not permit extensive appointments as a rule and rarely pay the provider for more than 1-2 diagnoses.
** Most in-office lab-work is low cost. Certain procedures and lab work incur extra fees. Common charges are found in the "services offered" list on the scheduling home page. We will advise you of these additional fees at the time of the visit.
